Ghost Hunts at The Grand Hotel, Scarborough
Could this be the spirit of Anne Bronte?
Ghost Hunt at The Grand Hotel with Seeking Spirits Ghost Hunts, overlooking Scarborough's South Bay, a well-known nineteenth-century landmark in this English seaside town.
The Hotel, designed by the Hull architect, Cuthbert Brodrick, when completed in 1867, was one of the largest hotels in the world, as well as one of the first giant purpose-built hotels in Europe.
The hotel's distinctive yellow brickwork was made locally in Hunmanby, and the building is designed around the theme of time: four towers to represent the seasons, 12 floors for the months of the year, 52 chimneys symbolising the weeks, and originally there were 365 bedrooms, one for each day of the year.
On May 24th 1849, Anne and Charlotte Bronte left their home in Haworth for a holiday in Scarborough. They stayed in the cottages which stood on the site of the present Grand Hotel. Anne was already seriously ill with consumption and died on the 28th and was buried in St Mary's churchyard.
